
The Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) inducted and cloaked 19 Medical Doctors into the medical profession on wednesday, 25th February, 2026. The Induction was held at the Texila American University, Lilayi Campus, in Lusaka.
A moment signifying not just the completion of the academic journey, but the beginning of the professional and societal contributions as graduates of Texila American University, with distinguished guests, Guest of Honour Dr. Kennedy Lishimpi the Permanent Secretary for Technical Services at the Ministry of Health (MOH), Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Dr. Balamurugan Easwaran, Brig. Gen. Prof. Lawson Simapuka the Executive Director of the National Forensic Authority, Dr. Masiku Phiri the President of the Zambia Medical Association (ZMA), and Dr. Innocent Ngwira the Secretary General, of ZMA.
Speaking at the Ceremony, ZMA President, Dr. Masiku Phiri welcomed the inductees into the Zambia Medical Association. He reminded them that today’s ceremony is not only a celebration of their achievements, but also a solemn reminder of the responsibilities they now carry as custodians of health and life. He expressed that Medicine is a profession that demands discipline. It is discipline that will sustain them through long hours, complex cases, and moments of uncertainty.

The Guest of Honour Dr. Kennedy Lishimpi highlighted the Ministry of Health’s recognition of Texila American University Zambia’s role in building a strong, ethical health workforce for Zambia and the global community. Dr. Lishimpi emphasized that while the healthcare environment is rapidly changing with new technologies, diseases, and population needs, the core medical values; respect for human dignity, compassion, confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice remain unchanged. He noted that the inductees will face resource‑limited, demanding communities that test their character and commitment, so they must stay grounded and guided by their professional oath.

Additionally addressing, Brig. Gen. Prof. Lawson Simapuka the Executive Director of the National Forensic Authority articulated that the accuracy of medical documentation, ethical conduct and scientific rigor all play a crucial role in strengthening our national health systems. He urged the inductees to inculcate discipline and precision in their practice.

Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Balamurugan Easwaran, further urged the graduates, to embrace the challenges ahead with courage, curiosity, and compassion as the world awaits their innovation, leadership, and service. He further congratulated and welcomed the inductees to the fraternity of graduates.
Conducting the induction, the Zambia Medical Association Secretary General, Dr. Innocent Ngwira extended his congratulations to the inductees, wishing them careers marked by excellence, humility, and unwavering dedication. He then invited the ZMA President to lead the program in the recitation of oaths, a powerful symbol of dedication to the noble profession of medicine.
