The Lusaka Apex Medical University (LAMU) was led by LAMU Chief Executive Officer -Professor Peter Mwaba. He added that they should practice integrity, be courteous with patients and treat them with dignity as well as a exercise restraint when engaging on social media. Uncategorized CIDRZ DONATES COVID-19 TEST KITS AND LABORATORY SERVICES TO ZMA MEMBERS THROUGH THE CARE FOR CAREGIVER TASKFORCE. by Kenani Mwape September 30, 2021 written by Kenani Mwape The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) has donated COVID-19 test kits to The Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) amounting to ZMW 198,000. This will cater to 1125 Covid-19 tests for frontline Staff and Care givers. In addition, CIDRZ has offered its laboratory services such as blood tests based in Kalingalinga discounting upto ZMW 50,000 to ZMA Members who may wish need them. Handing over the donation was CIDRZ CEO, Dr. Izukanji Sikazwe who expressed that her organisation responded to the call from ZMA on their concern for the need for frontline workers to be tested and as part of ZMA Care for the Caregiver task force. Dr Izukanji further expressed appreciation to all front line workers and ZMA members for their continued efforts and stated that CIDRZ continues to be a key ally in this fight. In receiving the donation ZMA President, Dr. Crispin Moyo thanked CIDRZ for the support shown stating the kind gesture would not only motivate but also strengthen the profession in preparation of the projected Covid-19 4th wave in the country. ZMA being the official representative of the Medical Profession in the country was encouraged to see the continuous support it has been receiving from various stakeholders following it’s call to all sectors of society to partner with the association in implementing the Care for the Caregiver initiative. With the country being hit with the third wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the medical personnel had not been spared as evidenced by worrisome high infection rates amongst health care workers and in very unfortunate circumstances others have succumbed to the disease. He therefore implored the health workers to not relent but keep soldering on as they fight this pandemic. He urged heath care workers that their efforts are greatly appreciated and advised they make the best use of the donated items. In her remarks, Mrs. Chiluba emphasized the company’s dedication in continuously supporting healthcare workers from the onset of the Pandemic. Also in attendance and representing the Business Coalition Council Emergency Taskforce (BCCET) was Mr. Sam Abrahams, who observed that the set Covid-19 preventative measures inclusive of vaccination was paramount in overcoming the Pandemic.
