Uncategorized ZMA INDUCTS 78 DOCTORS INTO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION. by Kenani Mwape August 24, 2020 written by Kenani Mwape The Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) in collaboration with the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) on Saturday , 22nd August , 2020 welcomed 78 doctors into the medical profession. The inductees constituted foreign trained medical doctors from various nations such as China, Russia among others. The induction ceremony was held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka. In attendance were the ZMA and RDAZ dignitaries. As per tradition, the new doctors recited the Hippocratic Oath led by the ZMA President, Dr. Samson Chisele. By taking this oath, the doctors pledged to uphold ethical and professional standards as they practice the art of medicine. During his speech, Dr. Chisele urged the new doctors to apply their knowledge and practice. Especially now as the country requires their services amid the global pandemic-COVID-19. Representing the Health Profession Council of Zambia Registrar (HPCZ) was Dr. Kawa Mmembe, the Director -Registration, who took the opportunity to educate the new doctors on good professional conduct. Uncategorized ZMA DISTRIBUTES DONATED PPEs to DOCTORS by Kenani Mwape May 7, 2020 written by Kenani Mwape The ZMA Executive has distributed recently procured PPEs from well wishers and cooperating partners to Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital and University Teaching Hospitals. Speaking when he handed over N95 masks, reusable goggles, coveralls, hand sanitizers and liquid soap, ZMA president Dr. Samson Chisele, who spoke through the ZMA Treasurer Dr. Abel Kapembwa, indicated that PPEs are a daily requirement, and their availability today, does not always assure availability tomorrow. He urged doctors to always abide by the standard operating procedures meant to reduce infection, including the correct way of doffing PPEs. Receiving the donation on behalf of the UTHs, Director of Clinical and Diagnostic Services, Dr. Alex Makupe, thanked ZMA for complementing governments efforts in the provision of PPEs to doctors. Dr. Makupe, who is also UTH Chief Medical Superintendent, assured ZMA executive that the donated items will be given to intended beneficiaries. He added that UTHs has been having regular interactive meetings with Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) to ensure a good working atmosphere for all doctors and other healthcare workers. He thanked RDAZ for the leadership it continued to provide and pledged his government ‘s support to meet the demands of a heathy and safe working environment. Earlier, Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital Senior Medical Superintendent – Dr. Penius Tembo, expressed gratitude to ZMA for continuing to be a reliable partner to government efforts. Dr. Tembo said this when he received the allocation of the PPEs for Levy Hospital.
