The Zambia Medical Association hosts international medical professionals from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science in Los Angeles, California.

The Zambia Medical Association had the honor of hosting Deborah Prothrow-Stith, M.D. Mohsen Bazargan, PhD and Mr. Ntula Simwinga from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science in Los Angeles, California.

The team paid a courtesy visit on the ZMA Secretariat on Tuesday 13th September, 2022 to explore potential points of collaboration with CDU. They were welcomed by the association President Dr. Crispin Moyo who engaged them in a discussion on various cross cutting issues ranging from promoting and maintaining the highest standards of medical practice by conducting Continuous Medical Education (CME) and Research.

Charles R. Drew University

Prothrow-Stith, M.D. Dean and Professor of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science in Los Angeles, CA, and is widely recognized for her leadership in the field of public health.
She has advised top-tier healthcare institutions on leadership, as a principal at consulting firm Spencer Stuart, and she served as the Henry Pickering Walcott Professor of Public Health Practice and Associate Dean for Diversity at Harvard School of Public Health. At Harvard, she created the Division of Public Health Practice and secured over $14 million in grant funding for health programs.

Dr. Bazargan, PhD is Director of Research, Department of Family Medicine Director of Research, Public Health Program Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science Professor UCLA School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine

He is Professor and Director of Research at Department of Family Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science (CDU). Dr. Bazargan served as immediate past president of the Academic Senate of CDU for six years. In addition, Dr. Bazargan is a Medical Sociologist with extensive training in the fields of aging, research methodology, evaluation, and statistics.
Mr. Ntula Simwinga is the Country Program Director at Charles R. Drew University – Rise Up! Project.
