The memorable and vibrant ceremony, held at the Lusaka Apex Medical University – Mutandwa Campus on 5th October, 2026, was graced by distinguished leaders including LAMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Evarist Njelesani, Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) President Dr. Masiku Phiri, ZMA Secretary General Dr. Innocent Ngwira, and LAMU Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Fredrick Sinyinza.

In his address, Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) President, Dr. Masiku Phiri congratulated the newly inducted doctors and urged them to embrace technological advancement without losing the essential human qualities that define medicine. He noted the evolving healthcare landscape, where patients are increasingly well-informed and technologies such as Artificial Intelligence play a significant role, yet emphasized that clinical reasoning and compassion must remain at the heart of medical practice.
Dr. Phiri stressed that going forward, medical practitioners should continuously integrate research, technology, and empathy to deliver superior patient care. He further encouraged the new doctors to pursue ongoing education in both technological tools and human-centered care approaches in order to thrive in the future healthcare environment.

Presiding over the induction, ZMA Secretary General Dr. Innocent Ngwira underscored the importance of upholding ethical conduct at all times, including on social media platforms. He highlighted the value of joining professional bodies such as the Zambia Medical Association, which not only fosters a sense of belonging but also provides access to mentorship and community support, both vital for the growth of early-career doctors.
Dr. Ngwira further encouraged the newly inducted doctors to fully embrace their professional journey through specialization, whether as researchers, academicians, or clinicians in fields such as surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and internal medicine, among others. He then invited ZMA President Dr. Masiku Phiri to lead the graduates in the recitation of the oath, a powerful symbol of dedication to the noble profession of medicine.

During the ceremony, Lusaka Apex Medical University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Evarist Njelesani, urged the inductees to diligently uphold their professional duties, emphasizing kindness, respect, and humility in all interactions with patients and to conscientiously contribute to improving global health outcomes. Prof. Njelesani congratulated the inductees on their hard work and resilience, and commended the Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) for its outstanding leadership as the mother body of medical professionals in Zambia.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Frederick Sinyinza, emphasized that becoming a physician goes beyond acquiring knowledge, it is about embodying compassion, humility, and an unwavering commitment to healing. He urged the newly inducted doctors to embrace their professional oath with pride and dedication, and to make a positive contribution to patient care and the broader medical community.
