ZMA CONDUCTS MEDICAL CERTIFICATION OF THE CAUSE OF DEATH TRAINING FOR KITWE MEDICAL STAFF.

In a continuous move to have more accurate records of death causes and produce reliable mortality statistics , the ZAMBIA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION with support from Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) is conducting a Medical Certification of the Cause of Death (MCCD) training for medical doctors in Kitwe.

The training is being facilitated by officers from the Office of the State Forensic Pathologist led by Dr Luchenga Mucheleng’anga.

The training was officiated by KTH Senior Medical Superintendent-Dr. Kazuma Seke. KTH- Head Clinical Care – Dr. Victor Sichone gave opening remarks and ZMA President- Dr. Kaumba Tolopu highlighted on the background and significance of MCCD. He further commended the Kitwe Teaching Hospital Management and provincial health office for mobilizing resources to support the program and implored other heads of institutions and cooporating partners to partner with ZMA in bridging this knowledge gap.

We envision a more reliable and effective approach with regard to recording the causes of death amongst medical staff across the country.
