The Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) has inducted 49 medical graduands from Eden University into the medical profession, marking the second induction ceremony of the Eden University School of Medicine.
The ceremony brought together university management, faculty, parents and guardians, the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), ZMA, and other stakeholders to celebrate this important milestone in the lives of the graduating class of 2026.
Speaking at the ceremony, ZMA President, Dr. Masiku Phiri, congratulated the newly inducted doctors and reaffirmed ZMA’s commitment to supporting young medical professionals as they begin their careers.
Dr. Phiri encouraged the doctors to embrace continuous learning, research, technology and artificial intelligence, while remaining grounded in the values of compassion, professionalism and quality patient care. He reminded them that doctors are leaders not only in hospitals and communities, but also at policy level, and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to strengthening Zambia’s health system.

The graduands were further encouraged to uphold the trust placed in them, remain humble and committed to lifelong learning, serve with equity and compassion, value teamwork, and recognise their responsibility to improve healthcare beyond the consultation room.
Representing HPCZ Registrar, Mr. Jon Kasalika, Manager – Training and Registration, reminded the newly inducted doctors of their professional responsibilities, including doing no harm, maintaining patient confidentiality, upholding professional conduct, practising within their scope of competence, and making appropriate referrals when necessary.
The ZMA Secretary-General, Dr. Innocent Ngwira, also encouraged the new doctors to uphold professionalism in their use of social media and invited them to join ZMA to benefit from the Association’s professional development, networking, advocacy and other membership opportunities.
ZMA congratulates the 49 newly inducted doctors of Eden University, Class of 2026, and wishes them a fulfilling and impactful journey as they embark on their calling to heal, serve and advance healthcare.
