
The Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) proudly welcomed 57 University of Lusaka (UNILUS) graduands into the esteemed medical fraternity marking the beginning of their lifelong journey of service to humanity.
Guest of Honour and ZMA Vice President, Dr. Bright Makenzih, inspired the new doctors to shine with exemplary service, urging them to serve the people of Zambia with dedication and compassion. He encouraged them to seek guidance whenever in doubt, reminding them that medicine is both a science and a service.
The ceremony was led by ZMA Secretary General, Dr. Innocent Ngwira, who conducted the recitation of the Hippocratic Oath alongside the graduands and attending medical professionals. He emphasized that the medical profession is a sacred calling that demands passion, integrity, and continuous learning.
Also in attendance were Dr. Monday Sichula, Chairperson of the ZMA Ethics and Professional Conduct Board. Professor Ichengelo Kangwa Muma, Dean of the School of Medicine, commended the graduands for their years of sacrifice and hard work.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bryson Mumba described the white coat as a powerful symbol of relentless sacrifice and resilience. He extended gratitude to HPCZ for their guidance, ZMA for their leadership, and to families for their unwavering support.
Delivering words of wisdom, Dr. Elizabeth Namonje Hamvumba, Director of Quality Assurance, encouraged the new doctors to rise above setbacks, uphold dignity, and serve with excellence, humility, and compassion.
Dr. Muhumpu Kafwamfwa, HPCZ Deputy Registrar – Technical Services, urged the inductees to maintain good relationships with colleagues and to view seeking help as a sign of strength. He called on them to uphold integrity a value he described as non-negotiable and to cultivate resilience throughout their careers.
Yesterday’s ceremony was more than just an induction it was a celebration of perseverance, purpose, and passion. Congratulations to the 57 new doctors for stepping into a future defined by service, compassion, and excellence.
