The background was on the global community just coming out of a debilitating COVID-19 pandemic which disrupted: Healthcare;the way we know it Changed the way we interacted as a people as livelihoods were heavily disrupted. Travel,commerce and medical supply chains. Association President, Dr . Crispin Moyo appealed to the media as a stakeholder to publish accurate and verified information to educate and inform, noting that negative reporting has the potential to dissuade the ordinary Zambians from accessing conventional healthcare from public facilities while also posing heightened risk to the well being of healthcare workers by way of leaving them vulnerable to verbal and physical abuse. The Executive took this opportunity to launch the ZMA Care for Care Givers (ZMA C4C) Medical scheme in partnership with Madison Health & Risk Management Limited. News & Media Zambia Medical Association Awarded the 2023 Prudential COVID-19 Relief Grant. by Kenani Mwape February 3, 2023 written by Kenani Mwape ZMA is one of the recipients of US $80,000 grant which is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project by Prudential Zambia. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a ripple impact on the lives of many and will continue to change the narrative of many. ZMA last year trained 45 master trainers under the Care for Care givers program who have since gone on to train over 400 more health care workers in basic mental health first aid. Since then, the trained first aiders have serviced over 1500 lives with mental health support both in their personal lives and their professional service. This year’s grant will enable ZMA to further strengthen the Care for health care workers. The event held on 31st January, 2023 was graced by the Assistant Director Community Health, Dr. Sylvia Chila Simwanza. Zambia Medical Association President, Dr. Crispin Moyo echoed the concern of, “Who takes care of health care workers?” Dr. Moyo thanked Prudential Zambia for the kind gesture. He shared how Prudential’s support has helped take care of health care workers indicating that over 1500 people have benefited from this support with over 400 health care workers now certified Mental Health care first aiders around the country. “Through this gesture, we will be able to train more of our members who are in the far to reach places.” The project is evidence based and coordinated by Public Health Chairperson Dr. Dalal Naeem who is grateful for the financial support from Prudential. Dr Dalal has also commended the technical support rendered by the Zambia National Public Health Institute and the Ministry of Health. They were welcomed by the association President Dr. Crispin Moyo who engaged them in a discussion on various cross cutting issues ranging from promoting and maintaining the highest standards of medical practice by conducting Continuous Medical Education (CME) and Research. Prothrow-Stith, M.D. Dean and Professor of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science in Los Angeles, CA, and is widely recognized for her leadership in the field of public health.She has advised top-tier healthcare institutions on leadership, as a principal at consulting firm Spencer Stuart, and she served as the Henry Pickering Walcott Professor of Public Health Practice and Associate Dean for Diversity at Harvard School of Public Health. At Harvard, she created the Division of Public Health Practice and secured over $14 million in grant funding for health programs. Dr. Bazargan, PhD is Director of Research, Department of Family Medicine Director of Research, Public Health Program Charles R.
