In receiving the donation, ZMA President, Dr. Samson Chisele expressed gratitude to The Network of Zambians in the UN Abroad (UNIZ) for the generous gesture and solidarity shown to the frontline healthcare workers for their efforts in containing the pandemic. ZMA being the official representative of the Medical Profession in the country was encouraged to see the continuous support it has been receiving from various stakeholders following it’s call to all sectors of society to partner with the association in implementing the Care for the Caregiver initiative.
With the country being hit with the third wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the medical personnel had not been spared as evidenced by worrisome high infection rates amongst health care workers and in very unfortunate circumstances others have succumbed to the disease. He therefore implored the health workers to not relent but keep soldering on as they fight this pandemic. He urged heath care workers that their efforts are greatly appreciated and advised they make the best use of the donated items. In his final remarks, Dr. Chisele assured UNIZ that due diligence and accountability was going to be followed during the distribution of the received items.
