This award is given to a medical doctor who has distinguished themselves in the arena of medical academia. They have in the practice of medicine made significant contribution to the profession of medicine as a science. Because of their work, medicine in general and the Zambia Medical Association in particular have been thrown into a positive light with practices that will inform the profession for years to come. This year had two award recipients;
Dr. Jonathan Ikachana Sitali is the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zambia College of Medicine and Surgery. He is a consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma surgeon at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka, an Honorary Lecturer of Orthopaedics and Trauma at the University of Zambia School of Medicine and is the immediate Past President of the Zambia Orthopaedics and Trauma Association. He is a member of the AO Alliance Steering Committee for English Speaking Africa and is a part – time lecturer of Public Health at the University of Lusaka since 2013. He has previously served in the Zambia Medical Association Executive Committee as Chair for Public Health (2013-15) and as Secretary General (2015 -17). Jonathan is passionate about teaching and capacity building for growth.
